Holiday Relays Results

The boys and girls indoor track teams competed at the O'Leary Holiday Relays Saturday, 12/19. The girls high jump team of Gianna Pastena and Laura Goodfriend brought home gold medals in winning their event, cut short by snow. The girls sprint med of Sam Tavalare, Jacinta Ford, Armani Blair, and Val Zielinski were 5th. Just missing medals were the 7th place 4 x 200 (Blair, Ford, Ingrid Nimoh, and LaNija Mendes) and shot put (Ford and Alyssa Hoffman). The J.V. girls were bronze medalists with a team of Casey Garcia, Laura Goodfriend, Stephanie Smith, and Ashley Torres. Like the girls, the boys also struck medals in the sprint med with a team of Juan Rios, Dan Baules, Jake Podolnick, and Jon Weiss taking 6th. Matt Herb and Pat Heitkamp just missed taking home a medal in the high jump placing 7th. Two J.V. teams placed: the 4 x 800 of Mike Artiglere, Alex Joss, Chris Coyle, and Steve Wagner were 3rd and the 4 x 200 of Chris Duran, Jake Boyle, Nick SanGiacomo, and Mike Gonzalez were 6th.
Next is the DeSchriver Invitational on Tuesday, 12/22.

Schneider Named to State Team; Weiss Picks Up Accolade

Senior Chris Schneider added to his 1st Team Morris County Coaches All County honors by being named to the 2nd Team All Morris Star-Ledger Team. Bigger yet, Chris was named 3rd Team Group 3, making him an All-Stater. Senior teammate Jon Weiss was recognized by the Star-Ledger also, being named 2nd Team All Morris. Super season, seniors!

SCHNEIDER NAMED ALL COUNTY

Senior Chris Schneider was voted onto the All Morris County Boys Cross Country Team Tuesday night by the Morris County Track Coaches Association. Only ten county runners are selected to the team and invited to the coaches association banquet at the end of the year to recognize recipients in xc, indoor and outdoor track.

During the season, Schneider led the Marauders to a new team time average school record at Freedom Park, placed 4th in the Amercian Division Conference Championships, 11th at the Morris County Championships, 11th in the North 1, Group 3 State Sectionals, and 18th at the Group 3 State Championships. He set a new school record at Freedom Park in 16:40.
